I finally got my Blackhawk recon vest which is replacing my Blackhawk Homeland Security vest.
The recon vest wears like a bib, for lack of better decsription.
It has the MOLLE system and will also hold ballistic plates. It's a bit of a pain getting all the mag holders and pouches on but when you do they are not going anywhere. I chose this system over the other vest because I am right handed for pistol and left for long gun. On transition, my pistol mags got tied up by the sling. I was at the mercy of the design. With the recon vest, the wearer can configure the placement of his add ons to his liking. Throw on the STRIKE tm platform and you are GTG.
It is very verstaile and can be configured to fit any role/mission. The weight is not as evenly spread on the torso as with a dedicated vest but that is a minor issue.
