Post subject: Gold and silver coins for disaster scenario.

Gentlemen, given how our country is nearing rock bottom, I am interested in buying gold and silver for several reasons and want guidance from like-minded professionals in this matter.

I want gold and silver for investment purposes, but also as a solid form of currency should the U.S. dollar shit the bed and becomes nothing more than fire tinder.

I'm guessing I would need something that isn't one gigantic bar, but smaller pieces or even coins. I see a lot of websites with many products, but want the most "bang for my buck" and security in knowing that I'm getting a good deal for what I want.

If we get to that point bartering will be done with bullets, and dry goods. get a vacuum sealer and start storing. You gonna eat the gold?

You mean thousands of years of human history in the pursuit of gold will just magically dry up because of some disaster? Weren't there looters during Katrina?

I am sure it will retain some value but at that point I would be more interested in eating. I feel the whole thing is a scam, you need to consider the fact that gold is at the highest price it has been in recent history someone is making money somewhere and I just think the money is better spent in fortification and survival. Just my opinion I hope I am wrong.

Already got everything else covered. Just interested in some kind of gold or silver coinage. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

1oz. gold krugerrands and Canadian maple leafs are widley accepeted.
A cheaper way to go would be to buy pre 1964 bulk quarters and coins
off ebay, these wont have numismantic value since they will be low grade(worn), but you would just be buying them for the 90% silver content.

I wouldnt buy now though, it is high, high, high!
I would wait and see whats going to happen with 2012 election, if it looks like its going to be Obama again then yeah, buy ASAP! cause I believe the SHIT will hit the fan!

My neighbors next door are JW's who stock pile food, and don't believe in guns. Myself on the other hand.....
