Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help for information that will lead to the recovery of a department handgun that was left Wednesday afternoon in a restroom at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center .
On February 9, 2011 at approximately 1:15 p.m. an OSP detective conducting a follow up investigation went into a unisex restroom near the hospital's Intensive Care Unit and placed a handgun in its holster inside the restroom. The detective left the restroom without the holstered handgun but didn't notice it was missing until after leaving the hospital.
OSP contacted Legacy Emanuel Medical Center security who assisted OSP with searching the area and interviewing hospital staff and visitors.
OSP has notified metro area law enforcement agencies of the missing handgun. The handgun, described as a black in color Glock model 22 has been entered in to the Law Enforcement Data System as a lost or stolen weapon.
Anyone with information to help recover the firearm is asked to contact Sergeant Jon Harrington at (503) 731-3020 ext. 258.

Dude that would suck! ;) I will come clean, I actually made it into work one morning we had take home cars at the time and I walked into the back of the PD and one of the troops says "Hey sarge, Wheres Your Gun"? As a good SGT. I told him it was in for calibration and I would get it that afternoon, with haste I recovered the gun and was 10-8 the whole time.

LOL...it does happen often. We had a Capt place his weapon on the roof of his vehicle after range day (according to him while he was loading gear in his car) and drive off with the pistol being left on the pavement. The weapon was found by an FBI agent on our task force and turned into his office.
I had a Det that did an extradition and realized he forgot his weapon at the prisoner pickup area 4 hrs into the return trip.

Never forgot my weapon, but I did forget to turn off my blues. It was a beautiful Sunday morning and I couldn't figure why folks kept pulling off the road...another patrol saw me in passing and radioed that my "dumbass" signal was blinking

If your looking to be upwardly mobile it doesn't help if the Brass can't see you shine......Or they can't tell who's lips are on their butt.
I for one never liked the taste
