Damn, the shooter was real lucky.

One of my customers had a KB last fall with a Bushmaster. It turned out to be case separation. He was using commercially reloaded ammo by a major manufacture here in GA. It seems they have been using Milsurp brass for their reloads which turns out to include a lot of SAW brass.

Here are a couple pics of the aftermath. The shooter was not hurt, just scared shitless.

You can see the back of the shell casing still in the bolt.

I have a few more if anyone wants to see them too.

Holy crap! Damn lucky guy.Saw brass can be used but is much higher grain count. They should've never been selling it in the first place.

Since my post has been resurrected I have a question. I'm only now starting to reload for my Ar-15 because of the $. I noticed that since it has a floating firing pin when the bolt slams forward the pin kisses the primer. Since I really hate slam fires is there a special brand primer you guys that reload use or is it not a concern?

I haven't gotten into the reloading of .223 yet. I have heard from a few guys who do that you need to make sure that you use a harder primer for it. There are some soft primers that will fire when the pin slams into it. I'll check with a buddy of mine and see which ones to use and which ones you need to stay away from.

I've been reading here trying to learn as much as I can before i deploy next month. I won't be in a shooter position but there is still a lot of knowledge I can learn ahead of time. I'll be posting a couple questions once I find out from the company about my needed equipment and clothing.

My buddy recommended either CCI or Winchester if your doing precision loads. He said you could use Wolf if you were just loading plinking rounds.

If you don't mind me asking, which company? There might be someone here who works for them that may be able to provide inside knowledge.Either way, stay safe.
