Yes... something that I've grown tired of explaining to family and others: A single EP course is NOT going to get you hired. Certainly not if you have no previous experience in any related field. For someone who has previous military (combat arms or related) a short course may help you... but there are no guarantees.
I'm already setting up my second course, having completed an entry-level one in January. That's a second one for this year... only because, like most adult males, money isn't being plucked off of nearby tress and odly enough my job doesn't allow me to take repeated vacations or leaves to train (in a completely unrelated field).
Get serious and quit whining about how difficult it is to get into the industry. If you want it bad enough, then your expenditures in training etc. will reflect that. It's an investment.

EP training is not necessary to gain employment at all.. I worked in the industry for a couple of years.. and worked a couple of fairly big assignments.. before I ever took off and went to a class..
Networking is what is essential..
alot of networking can be done through training however.. (I am a strong advocate of attending training for this reason.. while I feel that a large sum of the material taught in several of the more recognizeable courses has very little value in actual operations.. )...
