Hi guys,
I am one click away from signing up for the RMUR ( RMUR link).
My goal is still to go as a medic for those 'remote care' contracts in Africa.
Any reason why I shouldn't do it ? Anything better out there?
Thanks

While no one has put in their 2 cents on this one, I will chime in. The class looks pretty good to me. I am thinking about taking their advanced class for March. It looks like good info that will serve one well.
As for better out there, this class seems to offer a bit more than I have seen from others. The best way to compare though is do a Google search for such classes & spend the time looking at the curriculum & comparing prices for what is offered.

I have a former co-worker who is now with RMI as a remote medic and as an instructor. He's very happy with them in regards to their level of training and also their method of instruction.
I've looked into taking the Advanced provider course in the past but the times never coincide with when I'm off. However, the subjects that appear to be covered in that course would definitely benefit a medic in the remote setting.

+1 for good company. I know people who work there as rm's and they are very happy with the company although I don't know specifically about the quality of the medicine training. One of the instructors is a prior PJ and now a doc, and I have brushed shoulders with him and he's pretty squared away. Other than that, I'm sure it's pretty good.

RMI is definitively GTG! Great instruction, great instructors (including a 18D), cool installations and amazing students (Army dudes, smoke jumper, rescue diver, sailors...)
Learned a lot, lots of practice, good scenarios.
Money well spent.
Qualifications in 10 days:
WEMT
PHTLS
CPR for ALS
Remote medicine
MPIC
Seems like a good company to work for too.
Highly recommended for the training anyway.
I wish I have time for Paramedic school now.

Just got home 3 days ago from the Advanced class. Excellent experience. Great instructors, well run organization. All of their employees seem very happy to be there & it shows.
The other benefit is the wide experience of the people taking the class. Able to learn a lot not just from the instructors, but also fellow students.
I highly recommend this class to medics, nurses, PAs, & MDs (of which we had a variety of each in this class).

Were you at the NCI with the hippy food that makes colorful dreams?
The first thing I did after the course was wolfing down 2 double Whoopers!
Damn hippies!
