Holsters and weapons are tools , train with the one that you will be using on your upcoming detail .

Shoot as much as you can, using a shot timer and a standard cardboard silhouette type target with the 3,4, and 5 ring. In addition, go to any of the shit-loads of schools out there, but make sure you can shoot from the concealed. Drop legs are for old fat retired dudes, so don't waste your time training with one. Also, train with a slick kit, you don't need a bungling array of pouches competing with a pregnant chick. Don't psyche yourself out, its not as bad as people think. You will be fine, unless you ass-clown it up out there.

Yes and no. All schools are not created equal. Firstly, you mustn't miss. Go to Rogers and become much better with the pistol and carbine. You WILL improve beyond your perceived potential if you apply the instruction and pay attention.

Seek out private instruction from a nationally ranked shooter if you can. The tactics aren't always the same, but shooting is shooting when you break it down. Todd Jarrett, Rob Laetham, any of the true pros are g2g and can offer pretty much everyone a path to improved shooting.

I am in a similar situation as you pvtmahmoud. I have attended courses from a fair number of different schools, USTC, EAG, VTAC, etc.

Tigerswan's 3 day pistol/carbine (can be registered for through Greygroup as previously referenced) was the single course I have taken that has improved my shooting the most, especially with pistol. When I went, Brian Searcy was still the lead instructor, I believe Kyle Defoor is the lead instructor there now.

For training on your own, as suggested, get some IPSC targets from letargets.com or somewhere, and a shot timer, I use a CED 7000.

In your live fire and dry fire training sessions, alternate slow fire (untimed) sessions focusing on fundamentals with timed sessions, dont always do one or the other. Also, do cold-eval training sessions where you put yourself through a qual without any "warm-ups" whatsoever. Any slow fire with a pistol should be done from 25 yards, otherwise you are cheating yourself. With a Rifle it should be done at 100 yards for prone and kneeling, 50 yards standing.

There are better out there than GG, some of BW's are GTG, Roger's is GTG from what I hear. Some of the companies that won WPS are using mtcwv.com/

Jeffkart is right, commit to always continuing the formal training. The idea is to learn what you need to do from them and make sure you continue it.

I specifically mentioned GreyGroup based on what he is seeking. I know for a fact you won't get it at USTC. That is not a knock against them but if you are in that circle, then you seek out training to help you in that particular area.

Be ready for anything. You may be issued a set of junk gear that you have to use for qualifications.

To expand on that, you can get yourself a "rhodesian" the cheap blackhawk 556 chest rig which you will be wearing for the m4 qual, for like $25-50 for you to do your mag changes on.
