Post subject: Serpa Holster? Fricke Holster?

I own a few holsters but for operations I use a Serpa. I have never had any problem with it but have been hearing that some people have issues with it. At a particular training course, those of us with the Serpa were warned that an ND could happen. What's your opinion?

I have been told that the Fricke Holster is good-to-go but I've never tried one. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Concerns?

I call BS on any one who claims that the Serpa caused the ND , it is the operator not the tool . Or better yet the operator is a tool for making that mistake .

Here is the link to the article, one of them.

Like I said, I've never had a problem with the Serpa, and I hate drop holsters.

Ok , were does it show the proof that the holster was at fault ? The student is at fault not the holster .

I know. Some people were complaining that the release button could get fouled with dirt/debri and stuck. I've never had that problem with sand/dirt. I just told them that maintaining gear means more than just cleaning your weapon.

The only protrusion in a Serpa holster is the latch retainer that engages the Trigger Gard at the "front". This latch comes no where near the trigger itself. +1 on the bullshit call. I have 2 Serpa Holsters, one level 2 for duty and a CQC I use in SWAT training. Both have had dirt in the latch release button and have not yet failed (suppose they could if the dirt was really jammed in there), But this would only cause a failure to release the pistol, I do not see how this could cause an ND. Yep Bullshit Call!

Serpa all the way.I agree with you Jason, I hate drop legs as well and although I use it,I also use my Serpa mounted on my chest rig as well.I'd tell the instructor he is on crack.
