Post subject: Re: weapon mounted light...yeah or neigh

I am having trouble finding a holster that fits my light from the factory. I have an old "Insight M2" that is rather large. My 6004 holster was just a bit small. I do Kydex forming on the side and make custom holsters and sheaths so I cut out the section of the SL where the light rests and molded a new one. I attached the new piece with "chicago" screws and threadlocked them. It looks professional, but Im sure I completely voided the warranty.

If anyone knows where I can find a holster that will fit that old bulky light of mine please let me know. Id rather have one that is "factory" instead of "custom" for liability reasons. Im more confident in the holster now than as it was factory...(actually is more secure now), but you know how the Brass is about these things.

I cant afford to shell out $200 for a light just yet. I will get a whole new rig in the future, but I need to be equipped until then.

Thanks for the input guys!

Umm....just a thought. Safariland 6 series holster are running about $125-$150 depending on where you go and who you know. Buying the newer LED light for $125 would've probably been the best solution.

That said... if you call Safariland there is usually a very high pitched voiced young lady (who absolutely is as nice as they come) who will give you the exact model number you need to order. From there you can google the distributors and retailers but my guess is copsplus.com or lapolicegear.com will be your two best choices.

Ditto on copsplus.
However if you hit up TDT1 on here, he has all kinds of connections and is willing to help.
Did I mention he's cool as hell?

Yeah. I will be requisitioning a new holster and light in the near future. Im just one of those guys that doesnt like to part with anything that is still operational. I bought the light years ago, and saw the SL holster on ebay really cheap. I didnt know that the light was going to be such an issue since the holster was an older one.

I will get the new gear....probably the blackhawk light and holster setup and then use the old light on a rifle or something...

BTW... If you guys run across an old Insight UTL M2 really cheap, they were made to fit the HK's. But they work great on Glocks and you can get one for next to nothing used now....just dont try to find a holster that will accomodate the pair....lol.

Thanks for the help guys.
