Greetings,
What is your ideal AK-47 (country of origin), and what modifications would you make to it?
I'm searching for ideas for my Romanian that are relevant to tactical duty.

ksleo, the Ultimak M1-B is the optics rail I recommend. I mounted an Eotech on it for fast target acquisition. I use the CAA polymer hand guard with the rails for any accessories you wish to hang on the rifle. I just put a streamlight flashlight on mine. You will need to put a foldable stock or collapsable stock on it. Don't put a stock that folds to the right on your rifle, it will cover the selector switch and charging handle.

I have had good success with any of the eastern block AK's. Samson manufactoring makes a solid rail for the AK's and Krinks that works well for an optics platform. (They also give LE discounts) I like AK's in the Krinkov size with an under folding stock and the above mentioned rail. Optics are personal preference I like Aimpoint or Eotech for most of my weapon systems and Eotech for AK's works well (just preference) but Eotech has a better field of view with NVG's. my 2 cents

The best AK you can get is the one you pull off the ,now inactive, active shooter that tried to level your local mall....or something similar.
