I was wondering if anyone on this forum could give me some information about seeking employment with a private security company as a tactical medic. Specifically, I'm wondering:
1.) is there a large market for tactical medics in the private security industry?
2.) will my years of combat medicine experience and my NREMT-B be adequate, or should I pursue NREMT-P to increase my marketability?
3.) how strict are medical SOPs for private security companies? Is the scope of practice stringent and narrow, or does it follow the military medical "outside the wire" ethos of "do what you have to to save a life?"
Also, I plan on moving to Ireland some time soon. Any information on Irish or European PMCs that aren't averse to hiring former American-military personnel?
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

1) No. the demand is always there but the market for actual tactical medics is quite small.
2) I think you've answered your own question.
3) What do you think? It's big boy rules when not in 'civilization'. Hell, it should be big boy rules everywhere, but we have democrats too.
I think you've already answered your own questions but are looking for confirmation.
Now, if you're serious about persuing the -P, you need to realize that nobody is going to hire a green paramedic, regardless of what action you've seen as a combat medic/basic, and prepare to do at least two years in a high call volume city.

You will need EMT-I at the very minimum on some contracts, but even those advertised prefer P's over I's, Prior mil as a combat medic is a plus, 8404 is a douple plus, but again the P with experience is above all else.
TCCC guidelines are the norm and if you're familar with expanded scope concepts, then you have two legs up on the competition...Be prepared to work from the ground up, be able to work isolated and independantly, have the ability to sustain life for extended periods of time under extreme conditions/circumstances, and train train train your personnel.

My experience tells me that with out military & at least some time in Iraq or Afghanistan you will not get work. Military or SWAT medic, & overseas time is becoming a minimum requirement.
