While the light saber handle is clever marketing, a true light saber would have to be plasma. Until then, the taser works fine!!!

Still, why do I find myself compelled toward the dark side of "I want one?"

I read a thread that explained how a telescopic rod of, I think, Magnesium could be used to create a "sword" that would cut like a light saber, except not a quickly or smoothly as the movie version. The concept is being used in industrial cutting applications. But lets not get into a 5 page "Star Wars" tech thread.....Please!
