I was asked to give my opinion and information about the USTC courses that I have attended.
I have completed the Tactical Pistol I & II, Carbine Operator and HRSO.
Let me say this up front, the most important equipment you need while training is your attitude to learn all you can. I have been fortunate to train at USTC with some really good classmates and a couple of real OFP's.
The instructors for both Tact. Pistol I & II pushed hard for accuracy and speed. We ran at least 2500 rounds per class plus simunition in the shoot house.
Carbine Operator was much like Tact. Pistol in accuracy and speed. We also practiced movement and some longer range shooting. Expect to buy a lot of ammo.
The only let down was HRSO. USTC seemed to be in a state of flux at the time and the budget seemed to change. I found out that the number of instructors had been cut from 3 to 2. You need at least 2 instructors with the class and one to set up the next training session.

ALCON,
Below I'm posting commonly asked questions for everyone's benefit and to avoid overlap/duplicate questions.
HRSO Questions:
How did the HRSO course compare to any similar training you've had with other agencies?
Any additional likes or dislikes about it? (i.e. safety issues, flow, instructor competence).
How were the course segments? (driving, shooting, formations, etc.)
What was the lodging like and what does it cost?
Any recommended training one should seek to be well prepared for the course?
Was the duration suitable?
What were the training days like? Low, Moderate, High Speed.
Classroom V. Practical time ratio?
Is the course information current and relevant to the industry?
Overall impression?
Would you do it again knowing what you know now?
Anyone thrown out of the course for not meeting the standards? (as stated on course web-link)
What do you receive upon completion of the training?
Thanks for valuable "insider's" input. Hope everyone benefits from this.
V/R

The HRSO training at USTC is high quality training comparable to or superior to other training I have had. Well explained, then well practiced. Again, we had only 2 instructors not the requisite 3 so this slowed the course down and did not let us cover some of the subjects that were listed on the course discription. Make sure they have remedied the low instructor count to keep the course moving and get all subjects covered.
Safety is always a priority at USTC, however, it is High Risk so plan on shooting around each other and on the run.
They had lodging to fit all budgets. The Black Bear Inn runs about $58 bucks a night including breakfast. Your class tuition covers lunch and you can buy dinner on campus or go off campus. Air Conditioned rooms and some have private bathrooms.
As for prerequisites, make sure you meet their shooting standards before you go. If you aren't up to standards, they won't slow the class down to build your skills before continuing. You will get plenty of trigger time. If you can, take the EP course before you go. This will give you a jump on the formations, arrivals, departures and protcol. More to follow.

The days are long and full of practice. One thing you won't get is death by PowerPoint. Very little sit and take note time. My favorites segments were the tactical driving (a full day and into the night under night vision) and the firearms work. USTC is great at this stuff. Driving is high speed and on the edge.
Seven days is a good duration if they have the segments set up ahead of time and there are no "all hands" meetings to break up the training. At the end you will still be in high gear but ready to head home.
The information is always kept current. Their instructors are still active and have first hand information. These guys don't hold back on the information you need when down range. Ask, and you will get plenty of information.
I would do it again, but not without knowing that the instructors had help with setting up the ranges and situations. It is a must because there is so much to cover in the course. It isn't fair to the instructors or students to go cheap for the accountants. More to follow.

We had a good group of classmates and they all met the standards. You will always have a spread of abilities in every group, but ours was a relatively small spread. I would run with them anytime. That being said, take the shooting skill courses first and make damn sure you are qualified or I assure you, you will be cut.
After completion you receive a US Training center "successfully completed" certificate. Mine have the Blackwater seal on them. I don't know if they are still using these seals.
All in all, I will use USTC again for training when needed. If you are going to spend good money, you want top grade training, but you need it at a facility that everyone recognizes. End.

Ok so what is "qualified". I can consistanty hit a "chest" sized target while on the move with a glock 17 and with an M4, iron sights at around 10-15 yrds. Stationary I know I can hit the 3" target 5 times at 5yrds, but Im not sure what is a go for these guys. Im def not a "5 shot one hole" kind of shooter, but I can shoot tactically just fine. Can you give an example of the shooting requisites

Oh yeah...what do they rent the rifles for. I dont want to invest a ton on weapon rental if I can buy one for a couple hundred more.
