Keep it simple and inexpensive , get a Glock in any caliber . And if you are a certified security professional or LE then you can get one for around $410 .

Both good ideas. I used to carry a shotgun in my medical kit as a flight medic in the first gulf war. I will get one again, and a Glock- Thanks.

As a medic I would want something small that you can keep close that would not get in the way while your practicing your trade, but would shoot lots of bullets when needed.

I would say it depends on your AOR. My experience is "high threat" overseas and I carry what our S.O.W. requires. I do carry my 9 chest mounted so even if I am arms deep in patient care I bring my handgun into a fight pretty quick.

Are you working for an LE agency?
Are you working for a private?
What is THEIR policy?
If you aren't affiliated, why do you need to carry, and if so, what are your state laws?
That's what you should concentrate on.
