I lost a good bit of weight a while back. For my diet it was simple. 6 meals a day. which weren't really meals. I kept them to 300 calories max and spread them out so that I was eating every 2-3 hours. Eat within 1 hour or less when you get up. Very low fat foods, no sodium, balanced healthy meals.
A key to the diet was protein intake. Lean Muscle burns fat. The more lean muscle you have the faster you will drop fat, So in order to maintain your current muscle you must take in a minimum of .5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. To gain muscle you should take in 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day. I had a protein shake with milk and usually did double doses 3 times a day to get all the protein I needed plus my regular meals. Even if you are 300 lbs of fat you still have to take in 300 grams of protein a day to build the muscle.
The thing to watch out for with protein shakes is taking in too much at one time. Do not take in more than 40 grams at one time. The reason is that too much protein will cause the blood to become acidic. The body must then release calcium from your bones to neutralize the acid, the result being weaker bones and osteoporosis.
Good luck with the program. Hope you get the results you're looking for.

Would increasing your calcium intake counteract that side-effect of the high-protein diet?

ksleo Id like to take you up on that offer for 300% off P90x. I have a bootlegged version a friend gave me but it skips a lot and doesnt have all the videos with it. Hit me up on PM and tell me what I need to do to get it.
I do a generic version of P90 that I put together right before P90 was released. I call it my "caveman" workout. I have extras in it like sledgehammer routines barbell bearcrawls and sprint work, but its basically the same thing. My problem is diet. I work my ass off, but dont seem to lose the ass...lol.
I too just have a little pudge around the gut. No beer. And I eat a relatively clean diet. Cant seem to figure this out. |
Sounds good bro. PM me what version you want and I'll pick one up for you.
