The Colt 6920 has been/still is, the default standard that other AR's are measured against.
Also take a look at D.D., B.C.M., or Noveski. You can not go wrong with any of the above.

Performance wise, it will work. If this isn't a duty weapon, you might consider linking up with a friend with tools and building one yourself from parts. Quality parts and an experienced armorer can put together on heck of a sweet working AR-15 for half the price of a 6920 or nearly any other Colt offering.

Hell eaven if it is a duty weapon there is no reason to pay full price and not build your own .

The reliability and such isn't the issue. Testifying in court about the weapon's function, design, and origin would be. Just removing that area of liability / concern is enough to spend the money and gain the expert witness and support of a major manufacturer.

I wanted a Colt once, then you realize that a lower is a lower except Bushmaster because I hate them for my own reasons. Its whats in the lower and around it. The guys have given some good examples. I went with the Smith and Wesson VTAC, I love it. Shooters preference and let me add I am no SME on this but have done a lot of research. Good luck on your purchase what ever it may be.
