Gents,
I’m looking for info on the SERPA. Specifically I’m looking for any FIRSTHAND knowledge of malfunctions due to debris getting into the holster, not A/D’s. I’ve read the threads posted here before, they all seem to deal with A/D’s. I’ve read many internet postings about A/D’s and other malfunctions, but have not been able to pinpoint any actual facts. It has always been the friend of a friend that saw it.
I’d like to hear from anyone that uses one, what type of environment and if they have ever had any problems or seen, first hand, any.
In short, I’m trying to determine if there is valid reason for concern with the holster “jamming” from sand/rock/bone splinters/taco shells/etc. getting into it.
Thanks,
KIB

I've never had a jam.I have one directly on my vest on the chest along with a belt holster.when I first got them,i left my 9mm in it and drug them through sand, soil, everything i could think of( weapon needed cleaning anyway) and not a single issue with unholstering of it.

I've used a Serpa for over 4 years in Afghanistan, one on my plate carrier and a belt holster. I have had no problems due to dirt, sand, pebbles, or debris.
Of course I keep my finger indexed and off the trigger while drawing and holstering and that may help.

First of all there is no such thing as an A/D , only a N/D in my opinion .
I have been using the Serpa since it came out and in my opinion it is the best holster out .

Serpas do not cause NDs. Idiots do.

I’ve used my issued SERPA on and off for a few years and I have never had an issue with its functioning; it has always performed flawlessly and as intended. I never have really liked the holster itself though, it seems to stick out too far off the body when used on a drop-leg platform IMO. I also enjoy the traditional thumb myself. Much rather use my Spec Ops Vapor holster .

Same here, got one on my plate carrier/vest and as a belt holster for other applications. No worries, no complaints. For home CCW and maximum concealment though at home I have a Tucker Gun Leather "Texas Heritage".
It seems the only people I've personally heard complain about them are IPSC competition shooters, I suspect for time restriction purposes as they complained about having an extra movement (pressing the button) in the un-holstering process.
In a tactical scenario like many of us work in though, that locking feature is pretty important in my opinion for retaining.

Thanks to all that replied, I appreciate the time and your knowledge.
+1 to JK18, I should call it what it is, negligent, not accident. I still slip up from time to time and call veh. collisions as accidents.
+1 to OldSoldier, you are correct as well.
If any one does come across a legit case of a SERPA being fouled by debris, I would appreciate hearing about it, even if it is down the road.
