Few observations :

Just becuase you "trained" thousands doesnt mean it was effective or efficient.

If you are in business it behooves you to have a good customer service otherwise you are set for failure at the start.

A learning enviroment should be healthy and receptive to the lowest level with a clear goal that everyone taking your course gets some satisfaction or improvement in whatever they are there for.

A good instructor no matter what subject doesn't need to belittle a student or throw their ego around. They should show it not only with skill but being able to relay the material in a positive manner. (Anyone can be an ass) Students pay for a course to learn not to hear how Billy Bad Ass you are or was.

* Note to the wise - If you never attended a school, course, etc. ask around, get referances, ask for a sample syllabus, or check forums online.

If you are paying for a course ask about refund policies and criteria. If they are good as they spout then they will have one. This also shows that they are confident in what they teach and the instructors teaching it.

Beware of cert. or diploma mills sure they look nice on the I love me wall or whatever but means nothing if you didn't learn anything and/or you are using it to get a job.

As far as Trojan that was unsat. Never been and never will.

I have also attended trojan securities EHRT course and was very impressed with the content. You can’t really comment after only attending the two days, as there isn’t a structured itinerary given to students. And trust me it all comes together in the end. In my opinion the course is definitely worth the money and would recommend anyone with forward potential.

Cheers,
Matt

MJR86,

Before you comment, especially against another member on this forum, please make a proper introduction. For all we know, you may work for this same company. Thank you sir,

MJR86,

CD is correct. If you read the rules of the forum you should be aware that an intro in the proper forum is required before posting elsewhere. Also please complete your profile.

As spongebob said - regardless of their qualifications in instruction, their customer service sucks. The female responding on behalf of the company should certainly be censured, or worse. That's just plain unprofessional.

The tone from the company is that no matter what, the company is right and the student is wrong (for not continuing with the class). The student age is incidental. If they were 35+, then the company would likely say the student dropped because they were too old... Perhaps they caught on to that negativity just before that last message, where the tone changes and the message that I read into that tone is that they want the correspondence to end there.

Whatever happened to asking for constructive criticism from the students? Like OPsBoss says - what would they say if one of us showed up that has successfully taken multiple schools, and successfully served in Iraq/Afghanistan already, and *we* left? Shocked

Any business owner worth spit knows that there are a few rules to never try to fight. One of those rules is that you cannot buy the best advertisement, which is positive word of mouth. An apology and a refund policy would have bought them far more than a string of vitriolic emails. Belittling students; stranding employees overseas; hiring and retaining incompetent people; these are all surefire ways to let everyone know that your company is not interested in top performance.

I sense everyone jumping on the bandwagon here and thats fine. Most of us have lived in a compound where it is easy to get caught up in the latest B.S. thats rolling down the alley. I have been to Trojan, though the atmosphere was very relaxed and I did look at the positive things I learned. I put those things in my tool box and moved on. I have been to a few schools and instead of looking at what I wasnt learning I sat back and went through the motions and made my judgement after the class. Was the school wrong for the emails? Yes. Were you wrong for leaving with out explaining your concerns? Yes. If I paid X amount of dollars I would have called a meeting with the instructors and or the owners and explained my concerns. Thats just me. So a lesson learned here in the positive light. You just learned if you have a problem with someone or something go ahead and discuss it in a professional matter and work it out. Then and only then when the other party is unwilling to work it out can you walk away and slam them on the internet. So to every lie there is a little bit of truth. Again just my opinion.

As an outsider looking in and new to the security community. I can say the e-mails alone reflect how this company will treat you if you do have a disagreement with their subject matter. I will not consider using this school for further experience in this field. Just because the material this school teaches brings a rougher or thicker skinned crowd, does not give them the right to apporach a paying customer in this manner. Very unprofessional.

As for my 2cents worth, I have attended their courses, and leaned a great deal from them. I have been back recently to conduct some refresher training also. The things that are lost here IMHO is this guy walked out, probably didnt explain why, & you only got to see an excerpt of the emails the ones the author wants to post. 2 sides to every story.

I wouldnt make a decision n whether or not you attend his school based on a few emails from a disgruntled student, regardless of his impression of the training. And I would also like to stake the professional reps of both the lead instructors against all you gunslinging heroes out there.

Like I stated, my opinion only, much wiser and more experienced than I.

Regards to all.
