I'm looking for a good quality bolt action rifle in .308. Lets have some suggestions.

Depends on the money factor:

starters: Remington PSS or FN SPR, both are great rifles without a ton of money. Plenty of upgrades out there.

Glass: prefer NF or Leupold

Build from scratch....reputable builder (ask the guys here on their preference)..mine was Leonard Baitey (Baitey Customs)out of NC, anywhere from 6months to over a year + to build, get all the parts from Brownells ( I gave all my parts to Baitey's and told him what I wanted built), McMillian stocks are in very high demands...6months to a year or longer, same with barrels (Shilen, Obermeyer, etc)

Hey Aaron...If you're looking for a pretty sweet .308 set up, check out Kimber's bolt guns. Their 8400 model is badass! Base model is roughly $1,800. Directly through Kimber you can get a full set up, ready to go. Pelican hard case, Leupold MK !V, Badger 30mm rings, Versa-pod bipod, Tactical Intervention leather sling all for about $3,000.

I'm building a bolt gun right now and I am on a 6 month back-order just for the furniture from McMillan. Kreiger barrel is another 4-5 month wait.

Also, look at getting your barrel at least 22". I know Remington direct is pushing a model with a 20" barrel. The 168-175gr .308's LOVE a tad longer barrel. Just FYI, dude! shootingmad

Funny, I'm in the same boat.

So far I'm thinking 'classic' : 700P and a fancy stock (A5 ?), Falcon Menace for the scope.
Tempted by Blaser and Tikka ...
Savage has some nice combo too, and the price is right.

Too many options in .308

Screw the bolt action, go with a Saiga 308 22 inch barrel. Its in the 500.00 range, there is 25, 20, 15, 10, and 8rd mags available. Its ready to rock and roll with any scope/scope mount, its semi auto, and best of all its actually built at a genuine military factory in Russia based off the popular Kalashnikov design.

If it must be bolt action the Saiga rifle line has you covered with this model www.raacfirearms.com/Los_7-1.htm Everything mentioned above is great as well but why spend 3x more

These would be one of my top choices.
