Shit man you to late! I'm already old lol. I just turned 38 in jan. I've been tring to get back to running some. I use to stay in the weight room and on the track but life kinda gets in the way. I started back running about a month ago and man talk about losing it fast! I couldn't hardly get a mile in.
I'm using the intervals to get some stamina back but it just doesn't come as fast as when I was in my 20's. Man the glory days! I'll get back some of it back but I don't think I'll ever get it all back. 14 min two mile is still good. That was the time we had to make when I was in the army. Hell I don't think I could do that now if I took the bus part ways! LOL

I had a friend that was a seal and like you say they just keep on going, Like the energizer bunny. He was pretty damn scary . We would go hunting and be walking together and just talking and the next thing you knew he would be gone and you would never even hear him. I told him if he didn't stop that shit I was going to hang a cow bell on him so I knew where he was. LOL But for real those guys are in some serious shape. My buddy told me that no matter how good of shape you think your in where you hit BUDs you find out you were wrong!

I think I remember 38 Smile. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has trouble with his run time

Looks like this topic has been quiet for a while but here is my input....

Traditional interval training varying the work to rest ratio is always great training. 2 x 800, 2 x 400, 2 x 200, 4 x 100 = 3.2 km all up but what a session @ atleast 80% max effort

Tabata is also great and you can do just about anything. 15 seconds work (hard) f/b 10 seconds rest (low intensity)

I also think per-exhaustion training is one of the best methods out there. Especially when you cannot afford to let fatigue affect performance.

Ive had alot of experience in strength & conditioning and the one thing that always rings true is:

SAID - Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands....You have to try to mimic movement patterns, energy systems, times etc for optimal results.

If you want to jump higher...you need to jump!

Train Hard - Fight Easy
