The hard part is this officer attempted to effect a stop a few blocks away, clearly the vehicle is not stopping, I have had people duck into hospitals, nursing homes, airport and even a pharmacy with a life and death story and in 21 years they have all been lies. I am sure this guy has had the same type of thing happen. I think he could have handled it better, my standard line is "I am sorry to hear about your dying whoever, just give me your license quick and you go ahead on your way the ticket and license will be at the station waiting for you". Amazingly they sudenly have time to argue and don't need to hurry off. The part about qoutas we have them as well and every agency I know of has them although they are not called that. The mention of GPS in cars makes a good point it has become almost impossible to do anything extra, this job has changed from what it use to be. I feel bad for this officer granted he could have done it different but bad non the less.

My question though is if this suspect was anyone other than an NFL guy would this be a national issue or is this just another case of money getting attention, after all he did commit the violations

Imagine that. This turned out to be one of the occasions when John Q Public happened to be telling the truth.

That cop was a dickhead. And if you try to defend the way he acted...you are a dickhead as well.

Far too many police have taken the human element out of police work. I am not a cop basher in general (I have a lot of friends that are cops) but WTF. A lot of them are cynical as hell. And don't say it's the job. That's a crutch. You don't like it? Quit, and make room for someone that will do the job right.

Spoken like someone who has absolutely no idea of what police work is like or what "do the job right" entails.

Yeah, that's a profound statement.

You are right. I don't know police work. Nor do I fucking care.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist, or a cop, to see when someone, anyone...cop or not, is being a complete asshole.

And I have "done the job right" more than you might think. It's never good to speculate about someone you do not know.

I'm sure that you realized I was speaking of police work when I said "do the job right" but you chose to try to make it look like I was attacking you and your ability to do YOUR job the right way. But I'll certainly agree with you that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to recognize an asshole--I think they are easily recognizable, especially in this exchange. For some reason or other you seem to have a problem with police officers, as referenced by your remark in a previous thread "fuk da po-lice". As I'm sure you are unaware, police officers are much harsher critics of each other when an officers screws up than civilians could ever because we have BTDT. I dont know of any police officer that would defend the way the officer handled the case in question but you should be willing to admit(or at least try to understand) that if the guy had pulled over immediately and explained the situation, it would probably have played out much differently. I make no judgement of you in the way you do your job because I know nothing about that but I do know how you come across on this forum and upon that I base my judgement of you.
