OK guys, I need to refresh my EMT-B and my old medic experience.
I'm looking for a course, ASAP, oriented on operational emergency, remote medical care and prolonged transport time.
I've send a dozen emails already (thanks Google) but your input and experience will be appreciated.
Thanks

Z,
It seem's as though the information variables would be dependent on how much you're willing to pay, and where you're willing to travel to. I may be wrong but I believe that a few of the PMC's are willing to send you to a tac-madical course (as long as you're EMT-B) and that you commit to a contract with them for atleast a year.

Money and location are not so important : I'll register only after I sign my contract, but ASAP is the key word.
Do you have names for PMC willing to pay ?

Z,
Are you looking to recert your EMTB? If so, it will be hard to find a tacmed course to recert from. I know of alot of courses but please explain a bbit more as far as what you want. Do you want hands on, do you want med stuff linked with tactical what? There are alot of companies providing it I should say be cautious of who you go to. There are some companies that say they are great but they just teach from a book.
Please advise and stand by for follow up info.
Doc

In short : I used to be a medic, a long time ago and hold a EMTB ticket until last year. So I don't need a book course but a hands-on with the 'new' gear if possible.
I need a course covering operational emergency, remote medical care and prolonged transport time, more than that is a bonus.
A well known school in the PMC world is a plus.
So far I like DMI and CTOMS (Canada). Any intel on these schools ?

Alright I gotcha now. DMI, My personal theory on them. STAY AWAY!!!!! They started out with the correct mindset in providing quality instruction to personnel needing that kind of instruction. I have been through there OEMS Course 4 times. As contracts started getting scarce and money began to dry up some Shady happenings happend with the owner/lead instructor. I will not go into specifics on the forum but they are getting a black eye from certain communities because of their business ethics. They also degraded training by tripling their total class size for more profit. When they first started classes where around 40-60 with and average of 3-4 students per "Station" now the classes are up to 150 at a time and 6-8 students a station. with that many people you tend not to get as good of training.
CTOMS- not sure never been didn't know they taught. I will look into them though.
I also instruct for a company providing the same type of training as DMI but with a better product and class size. PM me if you would like information and POC.

I went to their course in Belize. I was so unimpressed with the training and how they treated the students that I told the instructors. The next thing I knew I was kicked out of the course. What they don't tell you in the course outline is that they teach this course as it is some kind of selection crap. I had come down for a medical course, not an exercise in leadership. I kept in touch with a couple of the students that finished the course and they won't do any training with them again. They said the little medical training they did teach was good but it wasn't worth the BS.
I haven't been to a DMI course in awhile but everyone that I know that has been to their course lately has enjoyed it. I do know that they aren't allowed to teach some of the stuff that they used to because of restrictions from their customers. As an EMT-B you would get training there that would be very beneficial to you that as far as I know is not offered anywhere else. I don't know of the course that Doc Pipe Hitter is referring to and don't understand why he would feel the need to send it via PM and not post it in the open for anyone else to view.
