Post subject: Funny thing happening in Swizerland

Hi all. I wanna tell you this because I had to laugh when I read this first. So here we go: As some of you may know Swizerland has formed a new Anti Terror force called Aufklaerungs Detachment 10 or short AAD10. they train together with Deltas and SAS and what not. Now these are all elite soldiers, they sign up for this job because they want to. So lately there was a discussion about sending them to Somalia to protect Swiss goods on frighters. In Swizerland you must know not everybody can just be sent abroad. even active soldiers have to apply for that. So now the green party and the left wings are standing upside down because they think it's not right to send "inncocent neutral swiss soldiers" into a warzone!!!! So what is the point of forming an anti terrorist force similar to the german KSK but not using them? Anyway I think it's hilarious. I wanna leave this forsaken coountry anyways.

Cheers

The same situation in my country /Hungary/. Last week I was talking with my ex-soldiers/ they are active yet/. Hungary has formed an SFG / 3 Recon battalion became 1/ helped them US and UK soldiers. Now they ready to deploy to A'stan to help the ISAF fight again terrorism. The reason why they have to stay home is the same as in Switzerland.

Well it's alright I guess. you can go skiing and the saleries are ok. but life is expensive and many people are leftwing and they don't understand people like us. they believe that Swizerland is a great country. it probably is if you like cheese and chocolate. be my guest if you wanna visite Swizerland but don't expect golden streets and platin toilets.

OK OK OK, this one is for me.

Just to remember, I'm a swiss citizen currently serving in the foreign legion, with CO background in the swiss military.

Some people very close to the AAD had advised me to join the AAD rather than the legion. Of course I don't regret, because in two years I've been on one deployment in Central African Republic and preparing for another one in Djibouti in june (which, in terms of danger, is as exciting as protecting ships in the Horn of Africa : nothing)

Don't get me wrong, I have full respect to the AAD 10, I know some of them and I engage my responsibility to say out loud that they are excellent soldiers, by far superior to 99% of légionnaires and they would just do a great job if they were allowed to.

Now remember it's not the first time such shit happens : they should already have evacuated swiss citizens from N'Djamena in 2008 and they should be protecting our diplomatic staff in Baghdad and Tripoli... yes I'm very ashamed of this bullshit cowardish attitude so many swiss people have, especially thinking that we used to be mercenary country number one.

Swiss people suffer a heavy military complex of humility, they make any deployment a big drama. And they really shouldn't. It's just that their political system makes them be overcritical about everything, including the military, which is always a bad experience for civilians (100% is militia).

Though, compared to the rest of Europe, we're far from being so left-oriented : our economy is ok, our soldiers (in theory every male citizen) still keep their guns at home, lots of european CP training companies train in Switzerland (remember Phoenix ?), and you can work as a cash&values convoyer with an MP5.

About the country itself, it's all about what you're looking for : it's an excellent place for birth (good education, security, good salaries) and death (good hospitals). Nature is beautiful and working conditions are top notch.

On the other hand, the mood is ice cold, and so are the girls. I take advantage of this post to express them my deepest despise.

Sorry for this long post, but the legion made me realize all the good aspects of Switzerland and I've become VERY patriotic since then.

Thanks for sharing that info Arnaud, wasn't to long ago that my family got off the boat from Switzerland although I'm born in the US (hell half of it is still in Switzerland). Every male over 18 in the family that's in the US now is either Military, Law Enforcement, or contracting so I figure our bloodline hasn't been pussified and spoiled yet. Next time I'm on vacation I'll have to bypass Amsterdam and visit the old motherland.
