Post subject: EMT jobs?

Does anyone have any idea who is looking for EMT's (B and I) I am renewing my basic next week and will start on "I" shortly afterwards. I might try to get a "T" in there alos if money allows. Any help?

Just a few things for what they might be worth:

Certifications are important and if you don't have valid certifications for the period of the contract, a lot of companies will not even look at you.

Certifications without experience can put you in a tight spot. Providing critical medical care in a combat environment is difficult for the best medics out there. Experience will give you the comfort level you need to have in your skills to be an asset to your team.

If you don't have combat medical experience get some civilian experience at the least. Look for high volume providers who see a lot of crime & drug activity. These type of communities produce wounding events that are the closet to what you might have to deal with down range.

Hope this helps, I've been deployed as a PSD medic for 7 months and these are my thoughts based on what I have seen on my current contract.

Good luck.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can get EMT certifications. Is there any known big providers out there for this. I am discharging from the Aussie army before the end of the year so my chances of getting on a Combat First aid course are gone. Will hopefully be on the Ronin CPP course in late October and I understand the first week of that is excellent medical training. I would be very keen to do there paramedic training although unfortunately just dont have the dollars at this time to stay over there for that period of time. If anyone can put me onto any good courses which would be recognised by private security employers, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Richie

If you have military experience as a medic an EMT-B is all you need for DOD contracts. If you want to break into the DOS world you need to have at least your I. I've considered upgrading to I for a while but I've had so many medic offers I've never felt the need. If you got the time and the money go to your local community college for 2 years and get your RN cert... then you can challenge the National Registry Paramedic test and have your RN/Paramedic which is priceless. I'm getting ready to do exactly that in a few weeks so hit me up if you have any questions. Also what the guy said above is very true... you can go out and get all the certs you want medic wise but without the combat/ or civilian experience no one will touch you unless their desperate. So volunteer for all of the ambulance ride a longs you can get if you weren't a medic in the military.

MY EMT cert is expired (hence the renewal) so all I have that is current is dive medic related stuff. ( dive tables, chamber operations, dive rescue, recompression treatments, etc) but I just wanted to have my options open. The RN program here is really good from what I hear but the wife is against it for some reason. Confused I may do it anyway once I am gainfully employed full time again.
