Hi

Does anyone have any up to date info on moving to the Phillippines to work? I've been approached with a potential job in Manila, but I'd like to know what's it like to live there as an expat- the latest girlfriend is filipino, but being a local is well different to being an expat- and also what are the laws regarding security- do you need licenses to work and carry or is a free for all situation?

Cheers fellas

Al

To work, legally you would have to get a work permit from Philippine immigration. (On your own, this can be very difficult) To carry a firearm for CP work, you would have to go through a gauntlet of red tape. (a private citizen would have to show and prove death threats before he can have a firearm) But if your client is high up on the food chain, he can work some magic, speed things up and set everything up for you. As far as living in the Philippines, the cost of living allows me to have an 18 year old maid and a 17 year old babysitter living in my house, so far it's working out well for me. Here's a link with some info that might help: www2.mozcom.com/~rao_cabr/
