I could use some advice/input..
I work for a Britsih company on a US base overseas. I fell (not at work) and cracked three vertabrae in my back. My company is deciding what to do with me. The doctor says I will be unable to work for at leats 8 weeks maybe longer...
Does workmans comp. kick in...
short term disibilty etc??
And is anyone familier with the "Base defence act" and does that play a role?
Thanks for any input!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to get into your business but what's the circumstances of the fall. That could help get you some answers. Playing ball, wet flood, just trip ? under my contract i was always on duty and had company insurance. If you are in the same situation then you should be covered by WC or at least by the insurance company if you have the STD coverage in the policy.

If you are working on a US Govt contract then your company is required to maintain DBA Insurance... (Defense Base Act)
Ask your company about it...
Hope you make a full recovery...

Thanks for the advice..
Spoke with a lawyer and he gave the same advice. Ask who their DBA carrier is. Then call him back and he would contact them. He stated that as soon as I ask about the info they will probably change there tune...
It's kinda sad they are being so shaddy about the whole thing...
