Howdy Boys ,
Just wondered if any of you guys are bikers or 'round the world bikers? I did a bit of my 'round the world compilation this last summer. 7 countries, 3000 miles 29 days. 2up, gsxr!!! Talk about a sore A@$! I don't know what you guys spend your hard earned $ on ,but as for me... after the mortgage..traveling ANYWHERE by bike. ( Only reason for the mortgage is somewhere to retire.) I guess I'll be a travellin' man until I eat dirt. Was just curious....

What bike?
When i was in the Police here. a long bearded tired looking gentleman puled up to the station on a BMW on/off tourer full of his personal kit. Get this, he had just arrived from Pretoria South Africa to Jerusalem Israel!!! Now that's a ride!!!!

We hired a Suzuki GSXRF 750...big error in judgement. We went with price instead of equipment. This style of bike is ALL WRONG for this type of travel. ( We nicknamed her "Torquemada") I would like to use my own bike, on the next leg. The costs can be about the same,( shipping, etc.) if you are hiring good equipment. It is , by far the very best way to travel. You are "in " the scene, not viewing thru a windscreen like a T.V.
As to your visitor, that particular machine seems to be the standard that most try to meet. Very reliable, hugely expensive.
There is an entire culture out there revolving around this very thing. I feel fortunate to have stumbled into it. Especially with my penchant for being "on the road'.
Shalom, Bill

I ride, mostly Harley's or variations there of. Mostly Bar to Bar but once in a while I have made weekly trips at 700 to 1000 miles a day. The harley was a soft tail so nothing comfy like a big bagger. I dont forsee any long trips, working on a rigid high power retro type chopper.

Hi Frank,
Yeah,I was a Harley Guy for a while. Matter of fact I think I've been an "everything " guy at least once. It's just an awsome way to see the world, (and get into mischief!)
Bar to Bar? Hmmmm....I spent most of my career working in The PRK, (Ca.) notice that you are there. Have you ever worked for any of the companies that do EP, out of LA? (Thought maybe we might have crossed paths).
Yeah ...1.Work..2.New Bike...3.New Trip....Mexico and south next.....

By the way, thanks for the membership and for an excellent website.....I will DEFINITELY be joining your organization by the end of the month. Fulfills exactly what I'm looking for on the net...networking with others in this profession.
I can remember when we operated without cellphones (radios were a luxury) no internet, just flew by the seat of our pants, mostly, and fought for every legit contract we could find. Now everybody with a CCW, a DD214, and a drop-leg holster is a Pro. (Reminds me of the horse biz..everyone with a roundpen and a saddle is a horsetrainer)
I like to see the guys on here, especially the SF guys, drop the hammer on the phonies out there. (ASSHAT? That's classic!)
Anyway..thank you again for such a well built forum. The information and content have been very helpful. I'm really, finally enjoying the use of a computer.

Glad to have you, the SAHRSCA site is keeping me real busy compiling all the security related info I have into one site, I just spent the last 3 hours adding information very tedious process. Nope never worked down south, no EP work at all. Still working my way through ESI books, working on my 4th tour to Iraq, did low pro PSD , convoys, force protection, janitor, coffee girl, and communications IT stuff. ;)
